Would go for D300 instead, high ISO advantage over the D2X is the plus point. Coupled with loads of other features.

The D300's colour, lower noise and everything just beats the D2X in every area of image quality. There's not much reason to buy a D2X.
The D2X's advantages are: - Its a full pro-body, tougher weather sealing (the D300 is already very tough and moderate weather-proofed) - Supposedly even more durable pro quality shutter. (but discount that since its 2nd hand) - Some additional pro accessories (D300 can also be fitted with some of these) D300's AF's advantages: - Newer technology - Very useful live-view mode (shoot thru LCD screen) - Up to ISO 6400. - Better image quality overall, colours are astonishing (not just more saturated, just solid good, it just looks "fuller".) - Even better to hold with vertical grip. - Brand new, which should translate to longer lifespan. - Warranty covered - Clean and nice (brand new) Not much reason to get D2X really....moreover the batteries/charger are expensive. |

![]() he said that he will give me SG$100 discount, so his D2X is $100 cheaper than D300 brand new. btw his D2x shutter count still at <15k Last edited by puakkui; 23rd July 2008 at 07:50 PM. |

unless TS really gian for a pro body, the choice is the D300. i think Thom Hogan has already come up with a pretty comprehensive list as to why the D300 might be a better choice over the D2x.

If I were in your shoes, between much better technology versus slightly better build, I'd go with the D300 too.

Choice is clear. D300 obviously. It is better to go with the latest technology with better features than buying a second-hand plus obsoleted equipment.

Dun bother with the D2X. D300 beats the D2x is every aspect as what is mentioned. D2X some more brownish cast and bad noise control. D2x is unlike the 1D series which still fetches a high price because of the technology that is inside that body.

one diff which may not be that important: MIT verses MIJ. Thats one up for the D2X.
The pop up flash of the 300 is very useful. Thats one up for the 300. |

Struggled with the choice albeit between the D2Xs and D300. I guess unless you really want a pro camera, the choice would seem to lean more towards the D300. Got to remember also that the in-built flash can be a life saver in the moments that you really need more light but don't have your SB with you.

actually there're many pros who has chosen the D300 as their body of choice...
i'm sure u can feel proud of choosing the D300, you shouldn't feel any inferior because its not a pro body in name. its "pro-ness" is almost 90% that of D2X...its very very solid. |
