Default PC Micro Nikkor 85mm Tilt Shift Lens test

Trying to learn how to use this lens.
Here are some tests

Shifting corrects converging verticals.. in this case, the camera angle is higer than the subjects, so the pens tilt outwards, the shift corrects that, but I noticed that the color has shifted as well!

Both were shot at F8, but notice the ruler is sharp through most of it's length. What puzzled me was how come the dog is no longer sharp.... any explainations?

Has the tilting altered the plane of focus such that it is not perpendicular to the lens??

Anybody has any good references to shifting & tilting?

Yup, you answered your own question - the tilt has changed the plane of focus to get all the ruler in focus, thus as the DOF is shallow at that aperture setting and distance, the dog no longer falls within the plane of focus.

errm ... i am kinda stating the obvious there ... akakaka ... call me Master-Of-The-Obvious or MOTO-mouth in short

It's a company lens... we need it for some of our product shoots.
