Default Strokbill KF at eye level

Was lucky to find him in his unusual perch today. Normally it perch quite high and at odd angles to shoot. Today it was in the open and only 2m high, 5m away from me. 2 version of the same photo. 1st one BG edited while the 2nd is straight from the cam.

First shot is an absolute winner. Great job man! That's awesome.

I love the second one... natural. What kind of settings were you using? Thanks.

Thanks, actually we can get the same effect as my PSed version if the leaves are far from the subject. #2 is more natural though. I was using ISO400, AV mode at f8. Shot with 1Dmk2 + 500mm.

Here is a non edited version of the same bird , almost same location but taken with my 40D + 400mm handheld, so quality is not so good. This perch was just nice for me to use the trees oposite the lake as my BG.

The bird itself lead me to the nest. Just lucky I guess as I was walking and saw it flew into the tree. Actually I was looking for another bird in the area, the copper smith Barbet. But better not to shoot as the angle is not good and wont get any good shot. Wont want to disturb the nesting.
