if u got the same budget then go for the f75 coz it as optional grip with the 2nd shutter release button. this cant be found on f 65
for us who r used to pro grade bodied this small diff may be negligible peanuts but i believe between f65 n f75 that 2nd button will show a significant difference one day when u upgrade to pro bodies then that old f75 with vertical grip+2nd shutter release button may very well serve well as ur trusty back up/holiday body |

How about the F60 and the F70 ?
From the F60, 70 to the F65, 75..is there a 'Major' upgrade from there ? Cause i'm on a tight budget so i actually considering a second-handed slr ![]() |

i using f-65 now lah. but hoh this camera only got erm remote control no cable release, if u taking night photography get one with cable release loh cause i find the remote very troublesome.
secondly this one got no continous mode leh wanna take those fast action pics at a fast rate cannot. i like it now lah but just feel its abit inadequate, if u got big hands like me this camera will be a problem. |

Hi Phy,
You may find the reviews below enlightening. I guess the rule of 'buy the best body you can afford' does apply when you are considering lower end SLRs. I am using a F65 at moment, got it used at a good bargain, generally happy but wish that dx coding can be overidden, a feature available on F80 and better. However, I find the remote control useful, especially when working with wide angle lenses for candid shots, Just need to set it up, hands off the camera and when an unsuspected subject passes by, click ... I guess you cannot go too wrong on your decision especially if you manage to get a bargain/used kit. http://www.bythom.com/n65.htm http://www.bythom.com/n75.htm http://www.nikonlinks.com/links/ Just my 1.5 cents worth as I am also new to nikon AF SLRs. regards |

I have no used F75 before but as clive pointed out. It's the only one with a vertical grip release among the 3 model.
Having used both F65 & F80 as a newbie, I will give u my humble opinion. F65 Cheaper (by abt $200) (can get a 50mm 1.8 with this amount) remote release is cheaper (abt $20) F80 Spot metering Grid on demand Cable release is cheaper($10) ISO override(useful for bulk roll film) Slightly faster flash syn @ 1/125 (F65 is 1/90) Unless the older model like F60, F601 is very much cheaper. U might wanna consider that they dun support the newer VR and AFS feature. Any one this 3 will work for U. Look at my photosig pic in my signature. The earlier shot at taken wif F65. In most situation, both model should be able to get u similar shot.

DON'T get an F60 if you can avoid it. it's so basic you can't do much.

Thanks to those who help.
Finally settled for a Nikon F75.. have not really explore it yet. But one thing that pleased me...the LCD on top of the camera is illuminated. Also the the touch/click on the shutter feels so much better than the F60.. Also bought a Nikon drybox for it. ![]() Last edited by phy; 16th July 2003 at 08:37 PM. |
