Hi, my colleage is have a Nikon F55 with the standard 28-80mm lens.
Earlier when she first took out her camera(last use was 2 weeks ago), we are not able to see through the viewfinder. Found out that the aperture was fully closed. After turning on and off the camera a couple of times, it opened up and we can see image through the viewfinder. However the problem now is that autofocus is not working. When in autofocus mode, 1/2 depressing the shutter release button did not trigger any autofocusing actions by the lens at all. The lens just stay still. and the image is still blurry. We switch it to manual mode and back again but still autofocus is not working. Any possible solutions to it? Problem is she's bound for a holiday trip tonight.. hardly anytime for repairing... Thanks. |

Hi.
When you switched to AF, and when half press the shutter, did you hear the AF motor running? Should be quite loud if it runs. If yes, but the lens don't AF, then give the focusing ring a few slow turn in both direction, and maybe you will hear an engage sound and then can't turn anymore. If so it is due to the lens AF and the AF motor shaft not engaged. I have this problem with my F65 and the standard 28-80 lens. Should not be a big problem. But if the motor don't make a sound when half press shutter release in AF mode, then it is a new problem which is new to me. Better send in for checking. Good luck and hope this helps. |

There's no sound at all. Battery seems ok, got flash and film able to move. She's jumping up and down...
anyway, thanks for the advice... |
