    Default Wireless qns

I having problem connecting my wireless router and my computer. My comp keep saying signal strength very good yet connection speed is only 1mbp sometime it can go as fast as 20mb. Router and my comp is just a room apart. How to improve the speed? I try to use longer anntena but do not seems to help much.

    You should include
    - type of ISP
    - Router brand and model
    - Wireless adapter at Computer

    I would recommend Homeplug setup.

Since you are using wireless, most probably is due to your neighbor's wireless equipments operating on the same channel. You can try to change your routerís channel (Should have 11 channels to choose) and restart the wireless computers.

I had same problem as u before, (I am not IT-trained), kanna connected at 1M, by right should be 54M, eventually I found out that I was connected to my neighbour's wireless router (somehow it became the default connection). So I disconnected this connection, then searched for all available wireless network, then found my own wireless router, and set it as default. Hope this helps.

The other things I did was to move the router away from behind the TV to in front of the TV, I heard TV signal can degrade wireless signal.

    - avoid fish Tank and mirror in between
    - place your PC on the table

maybe. Are you able to place your PC near to the wireless router within the same room to check for signal strength ?

I use a laptop to test it signal strength is excellent if it is within the same room but once out of the room signal gets lower.

Dun bother la.. just get the Homeplugs... save all your time and trouble.

My pc is placed in other room while the router is in my living room. My laptops has no problems accessing the wireless anywhere in the house. I have change wireless cards from internal to the external USB kind. Upgraded the antennas to the high gain ones. Change wireless router. Tried to DIY my own antennas using aluminium foil. Same problem. Brought the homeplugs and I am now a happy camper. Can start to enjoy my BT downloads.
