Else, anytime I will go Hong Kong to get it coz a lense of the similar make can cost u 100~300SGD cheaper. But Lucky Plaza is a NO-NO for all. I think that SLS onie got 2 shops that sell at quite a reasonable price for lenses... can check from the links. The rest, can give a miss. If price is a factor then who cares about service? Juz my cheapo thoughts... ![]()

Went to buy tdy liao - got myself a wide-angel + marco + external flash at SLS - Edison. Price is between 50-100 cheaper than most of the shops I checked and they are not parallel import - highly recommend this place. ![]() |

Bought a Marco Ef100mm, EF-S-10-22 & Speedlite 580EXII
Went to Funan & & got 3 quotes: Alan Photo - Wide Angle :$1000, Marco 850, Speedlite $780 Song - Wide Angle $990, Marco $755, Speed-lite $685 John: Wide Angle-$1060, Marco$780, Speed-Lite $755 Finally at SLS paid Wide Angle$950, Marco $740, Speedlite $650 In terms of service, give thumbs up to John followed by Song Bros. Will not recommend Alan Knew John's place was a bit expensive - but despite that I bought the camera bag at $135, afteralll the sales person spend more trhan 15 mins to "entertain" me, even though I could hv got it at SLS for $90 |

Thanks for the info. With details like that it'll be easier to compare.
By the way, how do you recognize a parallel import / grey lens? No warranty card? What warranty card comes with a Singapore lens? In the U.S., a lens for the U.S. market comes with U.S. warranty card and International warranty card. Last edited by lennyl; 17th July 2008 at 04:25 PM. |

Over here, if it is parallel import, it will not come with warranty card as far as I know - but prices can be anything fm 100-150 lower |

Just went to Bally Photo.
Asked for a 50mm 1.8, and a 430EX, they asked me how much I was willing to pay, and I said around $115 for the 50mm, and $430 for the 430 ![]() So, the guy thinks about it, says ok, $550 for everything. I thought, ok, since it saves me from going around to the different shops just to save $5. They take my credit card, write out the receipt, then come back with a bill for... $588.50. Guess what, they added GST. When I protested, the guy had the nerve to tell me, "sell you so cheap cannot make money lah..." So I politely told them to cancel my transaction and that they should not resort to such dirty tactics. If they could not sell at that price, just tell me and I would be okay with it. I did not ever insist that they should sell to me at my quoted price. In fact, they did not even offer to match my prices. Oh well, now I guess we know why this shop isn't listed on the "reliable dealers" list. The reliable dealers are pretty much worth sticking to. |
