Default CCD with a "line" after CCD cleaning at Canon Service center

Just sent in my 5D for CCD cleaning (first time visiting the canon service center) today at 6.15pm. After waiting patiently at the counter for 40mins, i received back the camera. Upon visual inspection w bulb mode, i noticed a 0.5cm hairline on the CCD!
I informed the guy at the counter about this issue and he sent it back to the technician. A few mins later the counter guy mentioned that the "line " is due to the wearing out of the coating on the filter (which he quote from the technician)??!??. I could not understand that at all and asked to speak to the technician.
The technician came out and asked if i cleaned the CCD before. I replied yes which i used to clean the CCD with the sensor swap & eclipse solution. He mentioned that the "line" was due to the drying up of the solution under the glass.
Other info:
1.Camera condition, less then 10month
2.CCD cleaned personally with swap: less then 3 times
3.I am 100% sure there is no existence of that "line" before senting it for cleaning, however i have no written proof of it.
4.Regards to point3, there was no mentioned of my CCD having an existing "line" throughout my 40mins wait at the counter.
5. I sent in the 5D for cleaning as there is some spots NOT LINE! that i could not blow off or swap off after 2 attempts .
6. The technician offer to bring it back, remove my CCD, open up the top glass and get it clean for FREE (as if I would want that!!I jus wan a clean CCD!!). I will be waiting to see the result tommorow.

Question:
1. Is the reason of :coating wearing off or solution drying up internally valid? ( i am sorry but i dun understand this at all)
2. If not,What is the possible cause of such hairline "line" It is distinct, not a very straight line..
3. Why would a dry clean solution line(if true) "line" appear after cleaning and not before?
4. What are the ways to verify the CCD is in full function upon receiving back?
5. What are the possible cause of acions if the body is return again with this "line"?

Thanks
ready pissed off, and i tot they could do a more prof job then me!. would appreciate for a tech explain for the "line", or if any one had similar experience at the service center

I share your frustration as i used to have that experience before. I brought my 350D down to clean as there is dust inside. Prior to that, i do not see any lines thru my viewfinder. Then after cleaning, i noticed some tiny lines and asked the technician which he replied that i had done cleaning myself before that. I do agreed that i tried on my own before and once only, but never see lines before that. As i'm still a newbie then and i own the camera for over a year but shuttle count < 5k as i hardly used it, so never really challenge them for an answer.

Although there are still lines, it does not affect my photo image quality, so i just make do with it. But i'm really skeptical about getting them to clean for me again as i'm still not used to DIY myself.

I sent my 40D to clean the CMOS sensor but got some dust on focus sensor instead, so ask them to do again. However, I found some finger print on my 40D mirror after reached home. It seems like they are not carefully enough when they work with our camera. I'll just avoid to go CSC if not necessary.

That's depend on the solution type and the method of cleaning. If your solution is ok, may be is the cleaning method. If you are not careful, you'll cause some spots or streak on the sensor during cleaning.

The streaks or residue may be cause by your swap when you clean your sensor. The worst case is that a dust on your swap scratch the coating on the optical glass in-front of the sensor during cleaning, but the sensor should be ok.

Just go and shoot in different lighting condition at different expsoure and check the image to see whether the streaks cause any problem.

Since you mention you use sensor swap & eclipse solution, I think you might want to contact the eclipse solution manufacturer, Photographic Solutions, Inc. Their website mention some issue on some Canon 5D sensor with their product that may be related to your issue. This is the related website: http://www.photosol.com/swabplus.htm.

Good luck and have a nice day.
