Default Melbourne Anzac Day

For those who do not know Anzac Day, it is a day of remembrance that is commemorated by Australia and New Zealand on 25 April every year to honour members of the Australian and New Zealand Army Corps (ANZAC) who fought at Gallipoli in Turkey during World War I.i

It is considered one of the most spiritual and solemn days of the year in Australia. Marches by veterans from all past wars, current serving members of the Australian Defence Force, Australian Defence Force Cadets, members of Scouts Australia and Guides Australia , Australian Air League members and other uniformed service groups, are held in capital cities and towns nationwide.

Spent several years studying in Australia but never bothered with it until I am now older.

Here are some photos for your viewing pleasure.* Please forgive me for still trying to figure out how the hell do i adjust the size to a comfortable one !

#1 - Shrine of Remembrance - Anzac Day Dawn Service
Braved the 4.30am Morning chill and walked down St Kilda Road to attend the dawn service.

* Noticed that I had spelt the word Shrine wrongly on the photo

#2 - The Parade
From 8.30am Swanston Street in Melbourne Centre is closed for the parade and the march to the Shrine of Remembrance

#3 Poppy Flower

In Flanders Fields the poppies blow
Between the crosses, row on row
That mark our place; and in the sky
The larks, still bravely singing, fly
Scarce heard amid the guns below.

We are the Dead. Short days ago
We lived, felt dawn, saw sunset glow,
Loved and were loved, and now we lie,
In Flanders Fields.

Take up our quarrel with the foe:
To you from failing hands we throw
The torch; be yours to hold it high.
If ye break faith with us who die
We shall not sleep, though poppies grow
In Flanders Fields.

John McCrae, 1915.

#4 - Lest we forget
The legends of the war is passed down from generation to generation. Lest we forget

There are more photos which I will post later on.

Hope you like it and any comments is appreciated. Thanks for viewing.

Cont

#5 - Colours of Bravery
The medals tell a thousand stories

#6 - Mast of Respect
This is the very least Australia do to honor those who have fallen. When will Singapore do that ?

#7 - Scores for the Braves

#8 - Honor in Drums
Hard to describe the feelings one feels during the parade hearing the drums and the bagpipes playing in the distance.

#9 - Déjà vu ?

These veterans have been sitting for hours at the back of the truck waiting for their turn to go into action in the Parade. Déjà vu ?

That's all . Thanks for viewing and your words. Comments very much appreciated.
