canon 350D built-in flash problem ?

there's some problem with the built in flash for my 350D. initially, it'll throw in 'err 05' message randomly when the flash pops out. But recently, it has been popping out every time the flash comes out, so practically I can only take photos w/o flash.

is it some problem I can remedy myself, w/o going back to the service centre? The camera is already out of warranty. Or shold I just get a external flash myself?
