    Default Portrait, Landscape or Square?

A book is a book, but what makes a book stands out? Is it the shape or orientations?
Iíve noticed that trade professionals have certain preference, difference and a need to be unique.
If you are producing a Photo book (high quality offset printing) for your images and prices is not the issue.
Do you prefer Portrait, Landscape or Square?

We are planning to launch a photobook production service for consumer soon.
I'm taking advantage of the traffic in CS to conduct a few polls.
This is to give us a first hand knowledge on the general expectations and would help us to tailor our capabilities to meet demands.

Yes and No, a design trained individual would select an orientation, followed by a size to start. Is it a portfolio? A travel collection or a wedding? etc. would be the next consideration.

Largely depends on how you want to present the images, images can be cropped.

To me, it depends on the content of the photo. If most images are shot in portrait (for instance, model portfolio), then I'll do portrait. If most images are shot in landscape (for instance, scenery), then I'll do landscape. But I tend to choose square because it allows flexibility in catering either portrait or landscape images.

If you're making a photobook, square is the best because you can showcase both portrait and landscape photos in it.

This is a very good point to start with, helps with the flow of thoughts. As for the Square, It seems like most photogs like it.

Regardless of landscape or portrait images, the decision on the shape had been decided. I think it's a taste or preference rather than the orientations of the images. Correct me if I'm wrong.
