the battery in the attachment only power the wft-E3. if camera battery runs low, got to unscrew the wft-e3 in order to change battery. quite troublesome.

So you have a mechanism / some way to bring the camera up before the balloon touches down on earth right? Cables (if allowed- can be dangerous in the air tho) might be better.

why not use remote control planes instead!!! they make triggers activated by the remote control unit and you can attach it to a P&S camera!! still aerial photography!!

Yes, however cables is not an option as it will fly up quite high. Therefore, i'm opting for wireless solution. Currently i'm using those kind of wireless camera that uses certain frequency to transmit the live view image of my 40D to a monitor on the gorund. However, i thought i can use the wft-e3 for less high height (eg 10-20M). Well remote control planes can't stay afloat..needs to be moved around(if i'm not wrong). Mine is stationery, won't move one. but i have a mechanism that allows the camera to turn 360 degrees to take panoramic shots. And yes all is done with remote control.
