Hi Guys,
Was just clicking my IR modified K100D @ home last night and noticed, in a long exposure like above 1 second I hear a sparking sound from within the camera ![]() I tried an even longer exposure like 10 sec and noticed its still there! Scared to death... I tried the K20D for an exposure of 10 sec and noticed same very prominent sparking sound as if some thing being fried on a pan in lots of oil ![]() Is that normal! I have been using digital SLRs for 5+ years and have never noticed this before ![]() Thanks, Faisal.

Yeah, SR is suppose to be off when mounted on a tripod as stated in the manual.
Else it will cause your SR system to go into some positive feedback loop and go haywire (just kidding). But I never had any sparking sound with long exposures.

When I take photos w/ tripod, I always use 2sec mirror up. This would set SR off automatically

I will start with a
![]() And then with a ![]() Its not really a "Sparking" sound but more like a static kind and it just "Dawned" on me that its the SR in action ![]() Of course I would not use the tripod with SR on, I was testing handheld...

![]() ZZ ZZ ZZ sound was caused by the shake-reduction mechanism. ![]() |
