Hi all,
I just bought my 1st Pentax DSLR which is K10D and now want to find a suitable bag for it. I prefer the lightweight one where I could just put the cam + mounted lens there, no more accessories. Could you guys recommend me some name ? My budget is around 50 Thanks ![]() |

to be honest, i think as you go along you will definitely want to put more barang barang inside, be it extra batteries, extra lenses (which you will get eventually unless you lose interest), extra sd cards, portable storage for travel.. the list goes on.
some good bags can also double as daily use bags. the crumplers come to mind. the decision centres on price, looks, size and padding in general. for just a naked camera with good padding you can always look at lowepro apex series, tamrac should also have equivalent, all definitely within budget. if you want something "higher end" can look at crumpler four million dollar home or five million dollar home, but will exceed budget. |

Hi kixvn,
welcome to the family! you could buy 1 of those camera hoister bag. Not too expensive. It can hold an SLR + zoom lens. Or if you are 'poisoned', you can buy the small Pentax bag that someone in CS is selling.

kixvn, For that budget, you can perhaps try the Lowepro Apex 140 AW (TK, $45) or the somewhat similar sized and priced KATA. Can keep a K20/K10 with a compact lens and one medium sized lens/flash. Rectangular shaped with zippers and has an all weather cover (7 x 3.9 x 6.9 inches internally) with strap and belt loop. Crumpler is nice and fashionable but the velcro opening can be bloody noisy at times. The Tamrac Velocity is another to consider.

I usually take my camera with me whenever I go out since I really like to take random shots. That's why I prefer a lightweight bag. Will go to the shop tomorrow to check the suggested names.
Tks for all the input ![]() |

I typically use my Lowepro CompuDaypack, since I usually need my laptop when I travel.
But if it's just for the camera + mounted lens + 1 (or 2 pancake) spare lens, I think the Tamrac Velocity 3 is good. It's quite small and very versatile. |

Speaking of this, I'm looking for replacement for my CompuDaypack... :-s
Looking something less bulky, more backpack (non-camera equipment) space, with option to strap tripod to bag. Anyone saw anything like that? PS: Hope TS don't mind thread high-jack. Same topic lar... I also using K10D... :P |

One bag is never enough I guess...
If only carry one camera plus a mounted lens, I'd use the Lowepro Top Load Zoom 1 (TLZ1, $25 from most shops). Sometimes I'd like to carry one lens plus one or two more lenses for a short trip, I'd use a Pentax shoulder bag (able to carry the camera w/o grip plus a mounted lens and one or two small lenses) For travel, I like to carry the Tamrac Advanture 7 which has two compartments, top one for some daily stuff, the lower part for camera stuff (one body plus three to 4 lenses, or a flash too). If I carry a long lens like the FA*80-200 mounted, I'd go w/ the Lowepro MicroTrekker 200. I also have a couple Zing bags which are good for a camera plus a small lens. Then I put the whole thing into a normal backpack. Sometimes I even use a big lens pouch (made in China, big enough for a K20D w/ grip plus FA*80-200 lens mounted) for the same purpose as the Zing bags. One thing though, I seldom carry more than three lenses during an outing or trip. I'm sure three lenses would be good enough for most shootout if I know what I'm gonna shoot at. |

Not sure about the price. Probably around $120 - $130 range. OP, MS colour and I think TK photo carry Kata Bags.

Maybe tried DIY-Better custom fit with a non-camera bag...
