It will depend on the brand you are buying. Some will be much more expensive.

    from John 3:16
    Hoya $35
    Kenko $75

    Depending on size, price varies.

Those branded ones like B+W and Helio will set u back more than $100

May I ask why you want to get a CPL for a telephoto lens? They are more commonly used on wider lenses than telephoto ones.

haha so it would be much better to be on a 50mm f/1.8 II? thanks for the details and price people! eh is it possible or sensible to get a closeup filter on my 75-300 III USM? how much would it cost me? and what size must i get? how to read from the lens what size to get?

    sorry so many questions!

i guess you can put any filter on any lens if the size is right, but if you're going to take close ups (im thinking macro?) it'll prob not work too well on a zoom tele due to low light.

there are specialised macro lenses, and other alternatives to take close ups.

    a 75-300 should be 58mm.

Look for ' 58mm' on your lens somewhere around. That means the lens has a filter thread of diameter 58mm. Similarly if a lens has a 77mm filter thread diameter, you'll see ' 77mm' somewhere on the lens.
