Should be cheaper, but probably by not much , given Canon 24-105mm f/4 L is only $400~500 cheaper than 24-70mm f/2.8 L.

That's still a substantial amount leh! 24-70 is about $1400, so the 24-105 will be around $1000... for me that's a substantial saving and f/4 is really the sweet spot for a constant aperture lens...

Very logical lens and very useful lens to have... especially on a FF sensor.

I saw the canon's equivalent of a 24-105 and 5D working together, it's a great combo to have.

Looks like its true then, but then there's already a very fantastic 28-135mm F4-4.5 which even has some Leica blood in it.

And the best thing is that most ppl are selling it for a very good price. The only difficult thing is finding one in good condition since its such an old lens.

I am almost very sure that it is going to be the kit lens for the a900, given the way 5D is being bundled:

The Canon 5D Kit comes with the EF24-105 f/4L IS USM...

The sony G version should come with 9 circular aperture blades at least, which makes it perfectly circular at f5.6 and should technically be smoother than the C's counter part when stopped down to f8.
