A newbie's questions

Hi guys,

Don't mind me, but i couldn't seem to find any posts giving tips on how to take nice sunsets/sunrises.

I'm not talking so much on composition but more on metering of the sky as well as water (if the particular pictures has a lot of water)

I seem to have difficulty metering as my pictures usually turn out very washed out or overexposed.

I currently use a Canon Pro 90IS.

Please kindly help, thanks!
