Default Which one?

I'm planning to upgrade my camera from 400d to the 30d/40d but would like some opinions as I'm undecided to switch to either one. These are the issues, having money as the main concern (I'm on tight budget) :

1) 30d seem more affordable than 40d but the latter's price has begun to drop a little. Is it worth saving up a little more for the 40d's newer processor than 30d?

2) Some has said that it's not really much difference between 30d and 40d, in that we definitely can "live with it", as in nothing big in comparison. How true is that?

I know the obvious answer will be the 40d but is it really worth it saving that little amount (prob $400-$500) getting 30d and compromising on the later processing technology of 40d? Please advise.

Ya.. Why you want to upgrade?

400D is still quite a good DSLR.
From what I had seem and read from those reviews.

Why not take the $$$ get a better lens instead.
I felt lens is a better choice to upgrade rather than the body.

I mean if your body still performing good...

I've just switched from a 400D to a 40D 2 weeks ago, and have not regretted abit.

My Reasons for the switch:

1) Bigger Body
2) Better Grip
3) Top LCD Screen
4) Wheel Control

I would say it's not worth to switch from 400D - 30D.

1st Ask yourself why you need the upgrade, if you cant get any good reasons, then save the extra $ and get better lens, they make much more difference in your photos than the body itself. =)

There's only one reason....LUST!....my da** itchy hands. "Bonus next month mah...." Oh, what an evil thought.....

I have more than enough lenses at the moment, not thinking of any "L" ones though.

if it's lust then perhaps you should save the $$ and gain from the compound interest..

if your hands REALLY itchy.. maybe can try experimenting with filters? more photographically exciting than to get another body (at least to me).. and definitely much more "affordable"..

If there is no need, don't spend, no matter how desirable something may be.

You will never know when the money will come in handy later on.

If u really must, just get the 40D. Newer by few years, improved grip, liveview, improved dynamics, etc. Generally it makes pics a little brighter. Only diff in price is around 200-400bucks. How I know? I have both.

I agreed. A second hand 1Dmk2 is way better than a brand new 40D. I know because I have both and the 40D is mostly in my dry cabinet unless I want to travel light.

I still think the 400D is not much different than the 30D or 40D. Buy better lens instead will be more worthy.
