1. ## Cropping for printing

what is the size range to look out for when we crop digital pictures for print???

Let's say 4R, 5R, 6R and 8R???

2. 4R = 4" x 6"
5R = 5" x 7"
6R = 6" x 8"
8R = 8" x 10"
S8R = 8" x 12"

correct me if i'm wrong folks

3. Must consider ratio and resolution or not?

4. try to keep to a minimum of 200 dpi for each dimension.

i'm referring to some information posted in http://www.canon.com.sg/digitalcamer...technology.pdf

5. still stuck...

i am using photoshop 5.0 and I have no idea how to re crop the pictures so that everything appears on print and the pixels do not get stretch....

Darren, do a guide???

6. binbeto taught me to divide by 3 and X2 using the longer side as the factor!!!

Thanks binbeto!!!

ie:
Pixels Dimensions

2048 width

2048/3 *2 ~ 1366

so crop pic to 2048 X 1366 and that shd do.

7. er... that's simple mathematics, you just need to watch out what size you're printing in. for 5R (5" x 7") your ratio is 5:7... simple, isn't it?...

8. oh is it??? what are the ratios for other sizes?

Like 6R 8R and 8SR??

U mean 3:2 is for 4R only?

6R is 6" x 8" ==> 6:8 ==> 3:4
8R is 8" by 10" => 8:10 ==> 4:5

try this thread i posted up

10. I see... that is really helpful! thanks! I didnt know cropping was so easy... !!!

11. all these are aspect ratios
the standard aspect ratio is 1.5
there is another type that is 1.25

blah blah blah
