Default Local Graphic Design Short Courses?

Hi, anyone know of any graphic design short courses being run in Singapore?

I'm pretty noob in this field so what I'm looking for is a course that places more emphasis on teaching the principals, theory and using creativity, etc and not about how to use Illustrator or other software.

Orita.Sinclair seems suitable, but I'm not sure of their reputation. Are there any past or present students that can share their experience on the school's professionalism?

    Thanks!

design is all about creativity and taste
the ability to think different and the understanding about marketing

how to teach in a short course

being a designer is a lifestyle and not a subject

if you don't already have it and hope to learn it
then i would advise not to go into it as you would not go far in this industry

I understand what you say, but you're not being helpful here. The question wasn't what I can achieve to be, nor do I wish to explain what I can be.

I'd kindly ask that posters stick to the original question and not go off course (like it always happens in kopitiam no matter the subject). Even if I don't get a satisfactory answer, at least I tried asking.

ps. I am welcome to PMs as well.

The teaching foremost. But I'd be lying if I said the school doesn't matter, since I don't want to be saddled with admin/billing problems etc either.

Best example at the moment I'll borrow from Orita.Sinclair's design courses, Design Fundamentals I & II. It's structured, starting small from what is design to how to implement it. I think something like that is close to a real deal and that doesn't cut corners. Like I said, I'm not interested in paying for software courses, nor am planning to label myself a graphic designer afterward. The course should help me build my foundations so I can grow from there.

Hopefully I've given you a clearer picture?

    To TS,

Mr Ortega has already answerd your question.

I have spent three years to study part time graphic design course many many years back, the shorter course I know of is the two years full time course.

How to teach a student about graphic design shorter than this time? what results can they deliver with 16 hours?

in short, can teach skills, cannot impart creativity...

can teach you how to hold a brush, but never teach u how to paint... go figure it out...

instead, u should just go for Adobe classes...

Having gone through such a course (1 year). It was seriously jam packed till it affected my full time job.

Its either you apply it or like most have mentioned - go for Adobe courses.

Personally what i went through, was more than just "Graphic Design". We had to literally make mockups, pamphlet design, labels, cards etc. - basically anything print related.

Creativity as most have mentioned, cannot be taught, it has to be inspired or absorbed through media - TV ads, music, magazines etc. - and this is what most aspiring designers have to crack their heads over.
