Need advice Olympus 11-22mm failes to focus

Hello,

I have a E510; setting is S-AF; lens at 11mm set at infinity; fails to focus.
When I change setting to C-AF still at 11mm also at infinity; everything is ok.

Is this a problem in my E510 or in the lens?

Hi there, had 11-22mm, haven encountered focusing issue before...
maybe care to share what object you are focusing on?

I have tried focusing on buildings, trees at daylight;
also took photos in well lit rooms; but I encountered the problem when the setting is 11mm at infinity and E510 set at S-AF.

other settings of the lens from 12mm-22mm at infinity same setting in camera I dont encounter the focus issue.

Need advice if this is a camera problem or a lens problem.

ain't no expert but it might sounds that there is problem with the lens at 11mm... the best thing would be to bring the body and lens down to the service centre.

Thanks for the advise; but still dreading bring it to the service center; i hate waiting for 2 weeks before i can get it back

My friend send in his 510 1 week ago and got none. Zzzzzz

demand for 1, maybe they will loan u, maybe they dun have 11-22 so they might just loan u 7-14? haha...

Huh??? My E3 have been in there are almost a month oredi. no word since. request for loan rejected up front.


as to the 11-22 not focusing - I dont understand what u mean "set to infinity"? It is "set" only when something is focused.

never had any focus problem with 11-22. the only complain i have about it is fringing, even at f5.6, and softness beyond f8.

thought saw something similar before, but the TS never show any picture, how/what to test/check ???

Just to update; I went to Oly service center at lunch time today
Had to left the lens for servicing; probably will get it after 2 weeks
They tested it before accepting the lens and said that there is intermittent focusing problem.
