Hi guys,
I might be going to HK very soon for a short holiday. Where is a good place to get the k20d? Do shops like Tin Cheung or Wing Shing carry Pentax? Will it be cheaper than in Sg? International warranty? I am thinking of getting the body only. What lenses are good to get (for landscapes and travel). Cheers. |

My friend went to HK over the weekend, the price for K20D isn't cheap there, most shops selling for 9900HKD (1730SGD) or above

Get the Tamron 17-50mm f2.8 or the Sigma 18-50mm f2.8, they are good lenses and HK price is good.

Think the price may be out-dated. Recently asked my friend to get a lens for me and the price listed in the list was way lower than the price my friend got esp for the Sigma lens I bought.
Maybe my friend didn't know how to bargain also. Maybe if there is another list, we can have a more objective comparison. |

Wow! Thanks snapnut!
I think I will get my k20d in HK Hahaha ...Sorry, but what's the difference between limited and non limited huh? Pentax lens nomenclature is very confusing, any website that can help illuminate a newbie? Cheers. |

Tamron is a no no
![]() My experience was with a local set Tamron 18-50 in S*** mount. It's BF. Not a big deal but imagine getting a f2.8 to shoot at f4.5 (or smaller only) to compensate DOF If you're unaware, Titles is going insolvent (chapt 11 ) and a guy in Tamron forum (who sent in lens earlier) is still awaiting to recover his lens. I'm still waiting for whomever to take over Titles (hope soon).. It's a real bummer ![]() Hence, if you think you may require after-service, it's not advisable to get it... Current state is still unknown ![]() |

That's why hjbyeo and myself will recommend getting from Shashinki.com. He'll test the lens in Japan before he ships out. I managed to cover quite a few events with the Tamron 17-50mm f2.8. hjbyeo came over the other day to test the Sigma 18-50mm f2.8 and Tamron 17-50mm f2.8, and he seems to like the Tamron. In case you aren't aware he had a sharp copy of DA* 16-50mm. Also it had been rumored that the company who's taking over is our Shrior^^
