faster recycling rate and wireless ratio are good, from other sites, seem like it can do backward bounce, not sure how does the White Balance thing work?

think the 2-axis will cover the area that a 3-axis covers if the head can go 180 degrees forward and back, so maybe sony made it this way.

1/4000s sync speed? I hope it really is true.

err..if i am not wrong..High speed synchronization (HSS) is already available up to 1/4000s..or even higher..

it would be great if the x-sync speed is up to 1/4000s though.. albeit a bit hard ..physically limited by the cameras unless the cameras have electronic shutter or some new tech..

Ah I got confused between the both of them... My bad The article doesn't mention anything about x-sync speed though. Hopefully it'd be significantly faster than 1/250s (and that the newer bodies support the sync speed)

wonder how the ratio-ing works... and if the 56 (or 42 or 36) can be controlled by the new 58 to give ratio... or does it only work between the 58 flashes only...

fantastic design i must say!

this has to be the first of its kind.

i've been thinking of a flash which could bounce flash when it is in portrait mode.

Check out the thread I posted... the link to David Kilpatrick's website is more illuminating as he comments on the specs... apparently the 58 will control a group of 42 flashes... Will have to test the 56 & 36 to see if it works but there is no way to control flash ratio on either of these two older flashes so the wireless remote controller function of the 58 may not work for the 56 & 36. You may just be able to trigger these flashes TTL but at full power. I just wonder if it will have a 4-channel thing like the old 5600HS(D) had so that up to 4 photographers could work wirelessly in the same venue...

It's actually a bit low... cos the 5600HS(D) could sync up to 1/8000s with HSS on a film body...

I don't understand how flash ratio is related to wireless remote control. Imho, ability to control flash ratio is a nice to have but not essential feature since there will be better and finer control by just applying the GN formula and varying various factors. For example, if you use 3 flashlights, how do you control/use only flash ratio to get different output from each of the 3?
