Default Lembeh in MAY

Just got myself a Canon G9 with its canon housing and straight away headed down to Lembeh straits for some action. My 1st trip to Lembeh and i must say the place is actually quite unique in its own way. I'm sure many fellers here who have been there will agree with me. I hope i did the canon G9 justice! All taken with the G9.. no funky setup, no expensive strobes.

Sorry, 1st image not underwater!! But can't help it.. its one of the more amazing sunset i've come across.

2.

Pymgy Seahorse .. quite a challenge as this funky creature is probaby 5mm BIG and real tricky to get the camera in focus..

3.

Frogfish. this guy was found among some green foilage.

Wow! Does the G9 has underwater macro setting or do you need a macro lens on top of what you have to take a picture of that pygmy? Was thinking between the S5 and the G9.

Sorry TS....

Need some help here....

I'm planning for a Lembeh only trip end of the year or early next year. But am thinking of going alone..... so as not to 'Bored' my non-photographer dive buddies to tears. But any of you who flys Silkair would knows...... SINGLE TICKET is very much more $$$$$ than double

Anyone knows how to 'cheat' on this..... like which air-ticket agent in town could get you the flight without you finding a partner for the trip......

Thxs for any info......

i totally over looked it thinking it was just some weird looking coral!! even when the DM pointed it to me.. i was like.. "yah thanks, i had enuf corals" till he gave the the nudi hand signal...

yup, it has marco setting and an underwater setting.. took me 2 dives to somewhat get use to it. results only began to tickle in on the 2nd day of shooting. Its a matter of distance from the subject to get it in focus.

The pygmy is especially tricky.. its just too small and it blends so well with the coral.. u will be having a hard time trying to find it in the the viewing screen even thought the G9 has a pretty large screen. and getting the camera to focus on the pygmy.. its crazy.. and u better watch your bottom time!! but keep shooting.. a few will be sharp enuf and hopefully one picture will have the pygmy posing in a good position. i took a lot of pygmy pictures but after the 3rd diving day.. i give up on them. i'llreturn to shoot them after i house my DSLR..

What housing are you using ? Is it Ikelite ? What types of arms and strobes that you are using ?

Just came back from Mabul/Sipadan trip with my G9+Ikelite housing. The housing caused my G9 shuttle door to jam , probably due to tight fitting.

Did you put some silica gel inside to defog ?

My housing is THE CANON WP-DC21 and i did not use any strobes. No choice, due to poor planning.. i didnt manage to get hold of any strobes in time for the dive, but i think i wasnt a bad thing as it gave me time to explore the camera's underwater capabilities b4 i take it a step further. Borrowed Ivan's inon strobes setup for Burma banks in march... almost killed myself with his double strobe setup.. too much too quickly..

thanks, Lembeh made it easy.. all the subjects are so stationary! Just take and check.. no good, take again. repeat the process until satisfied!! Got myself into a 30 min decom without realizing it !! heng ah.. my air consumption still can make it. phew..
