Yeah, public transport's the way to go. Be green and safe money. That's what they've been telling us right? Wonder why I never see ministers taking public transport regularly?? In fact, I never seen a single minister take public transport - not even once.

By the way, if everyone takes public transport and the public transport gets congested, guess what will happen? I think some bro here hit the mark!

I am all for this if they put the ERP right at the footpaths of all housing estate and shop houses and their "five foot way", inside wet market, hawker centre, all void deck, walking path at parks, zebra crossing, trafficlight..etc. I am a long time cyclist and bikes have no right to be in those area blocking, weaving between people on foot, ring their bell loub and inconsiderate asking people to move away. People seem to have forgot the bike should not lord over people on foot. Okay abit off topic but hey you want to put ERP on bike...this is one I will support whole heartedly heheheh.... :P

But again, this case unlikely to happen.
They are just playing the balancing game, increase to the point where the cost of "drop out" = to the cost of price increase.
They might be aiming for Nobel prize for economics.

We are just experiments to confirm that there is no such thing as demand destruction. No matter how much ERP charges, our roads still gets jammed. And they can also show that luxury items (such as private transport in this case) isn't as elastic as was though to be.

Well then congrats to you then - so envious. So did you ask him how many times a week he takes the public transport?

a matter of time when things get decentralised to housing estates.

it makes me wonder... if you'd notice, at times, Changi Airport tends to get busy with multiple incoming and outgoing flights. planes queued just to take-off while waiting for a stream of incoming planes.

    ERP at the runways?

Thats a good one! But ERP is made for a good cause. Maybe there will be HRP in the near future. human road pricing. We have to prepare to regulate road usage for 7million people population in the future! Wow, with 7million people passing the HRP a day, thats awesome.

it will become too costly to move about, to go out. then people will stay indoors most of the time and virtual-travel with their PS3 or PSP. Shopping will be virtual and online only. fingers will get fit but body will get fat.
only viable conduit for travel will be public transport.
before you know it, it's time to increase public transport fares.
    every darn costs increase.
but when you ask for pay increase. it will be not helpful to singapore's competitiveness becos singapore sells on it's competitive workforce. kena squeezed really hard.
it's signs of an 'intelligent' management.
