Tested the D300 in Tioman last week end. So many settings so little time, lost track of those settings. Got to check through one at the time again...stone stone 2G of images, pick out 5 to share. Some are in vivid, D2xII, D2xIII, STd - mode.
On the whole not too bad. Love the H-ISO low noise, 51 focus pts, 3D tracking. ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() |

Eric to Eric - you are wrong. 51 focus pt good for focusing all the backscatter particles!! Maybe not enough?

Currently m still making friend with the D300. Here are some findings hope they are useful to anyone going into UW D300. 1) H ISO low noise - performed pretty well in those cave shots. I pushed up to ISO600-800 & still pretty decent not much of the grain shown at 100% 2) Nikon has improved on their color management - the metering of blue is quite accurate 3) Sun-burst shot have yet to try. Will up date. 4) 51,21,9 focus pts is good, easy to use. compose without having to lock focus or move cam to recompose shots. Unlike older generation of film cameras have to lock n recompose. 5) 3D tracking - This function is very cool as it tracks moving subject within the frame. Still not fast enough to track down a fast nemo. Unless the nemo is a fat n lazy one. 6) Viewfinder is too small. Replace with F5 sports finder will be superb. On the whole I would give this camera a 9/10 rating. Will be going to Anilao & Tioman in July for more testing. |

Hey... wanna find out... which brand chasing you bought? Where you got it and how much you paid for it for your D300? And lastly, what lens did you use for all your shots? They are nice.

Interesting read. Can't wait for the results of your testing. I'm also considering getting a housing for my D300 and bringing it down in Anilao. Hopefully, before the year ends.
Happy Diving and Shooting!!! |
