Sony has best service centre opening hour

We seem to took it for granted , as we don't need to take leave to service our camera and lens.

while other major brand mostly work Monday-Friday only and may be til 7pm. A few brands open on saturday half day.

Assuming need to take 2 half days leave to send in and take back from service centre, 1 day leave may mean $50~100 in cash value already.

but objectively speaking.. indeed Sony service centre's opening hour is great! Good location too! Indeed, I have taken the opening hours for granted..never appreciating the convenience of the SSC opening till late Hereby to Sony for the opening hours!

They have no choice. Centres like Wisma actually requires their tenants to stay opened till a certain timing.

Their service center is really convenient. Kudos to them.

Look from another pespective. Does this means their products fail more often that they can justify operating as such hour.

My A700 may need to visit them soon, the back thumb dial seems to be activated continuously sometime when all I did is rotate it one notch.

Lucky to have them open up consistently... I've got friends who needed to take leave just to get their stuff serviced...

I just got mine replaced due to the same problem...

Have been impressed with their service centre. Their mobile phone service is also good - only 5 days compared to my last experience with NCC - 8 weeks!

i have the same problem with my Sony Ericsson M600i mobile phone's rotating dial. I sent this in to be rectified by the SonyEricsson service centre. After 3months, the same problem resurfaced, albeit at a much lesser frequency.

i also have the exact same issue the the finger dial on my Sony A100. Problem, sent to SSC for fixing, came back, after 1 month, same problem comes back again.

maybe its a sony thing, but it's getting on my nerves and i have reservation against buying any more sony products with "rotating dials".
Don't know if its a software or hardware glitch, but i do hope Sony will fix them up!

It's a moving part, means the MTF is not low...

And somemore the rotating dial/wheel/whatever you wanna call it () is located next to your index finger when you hold your camera, the tendency to scroll it is very high.

Then again, almost all cameras these days have it, I'm sure they have issues too.

DIY fixed mine temporary with contact cleaner. Just spray and rotate, seems to fix it for now. No other cam to use, hence only go SSC when really no choice.

The jackpot should stop with 4 digits, then can go buy 4-D.
