Ops ... I accidentally deleted my last thread. This is the updated one. Music slideshow.
I was one of the jiemei and "back up" photographer. I'm very new into photograpgy. This is my 1st wedding shot. Taken with Nikon D80. Btw, how should I make the colour and contrast to stand out when I took it? What are the parameters to play with? I saw the pictures taken by the main photographer, the green is so green and the blue is so blue while mine looks very soft. C & C welcome! Thanks! http://wenwenzzz.webng.com/nicholaseliciawedding/ Last edited by lostnfound_wenwen; 20th June 2008 at 12:55 PM. |

You need to post process the pics. Try these settings, USM 20, 200, 0 for remove the grey cast. Than increase saturations + add a S curve contrast adjustment layer. Alot can be done in PS so you gotta read and try it out.

nice try for a first attempt. i remembered my first attempt too, very raw also.
![]() anyway a few pointers 1) the music ended halfway, but yr slideshow still continued, then the music restarted. it's ok for us to critique the pics, but u can't show this kinda arrangement to the clients or to friends. If the music too short, then display less pics lor. 2) For the gatecrashing pics, those that the groom's face is obscured by the grilles, i think don't have to show, else the point of interest, which is face, is already hidden. If u wana show the hand with the angpow, then just crop that area. U have to be more critical with your shots selection, not good cannot put slideshow cos slideshow is a showcase of the best pics of that day. 3) Are u using external flash? For weddings it's very good to use external flash, and bounce it off the ceiling. Unless u have fast lenses then u can shoot using available light. Direct flash is a big no-no in general wedding photography cos might make yr pics look like those from a point and shoot.. |

I'm just into photography 3 months only, haven't invested much yet. I have few more friends' ROM & weddings coming up so I will definitely get the external flash |

i really love the many different expressions you got there.
Like the autie kena kissed, and the stressed look while trying to put on the jewelery for the bride very fun.. although i think you had some direct flash on them, some may not like it and you could try bounce flash but i had some nostalgic feeling about them which i think it works for me on some of them. Sometimes while we are so focused on the techniques during shoot and so worried about how good the shot should turn up we missed out many precious moments. But for your case i think u did well for the moments and expressions.Last edited by bigdaystudio; 20th June 2008 at 11:15 AM. |

Oh ya, I love your "ken & carol" series. I actually learnt the importance of capturing precious expressions from this series! Last edited by lostnfound_wenwen; 20th June 2008 at 12:22 PM. |

Thank you ^^. I guess I have to re-edit the slideshow & photos and present a better one to this loving couple before they come back from their europe honeymoon!

the only gripe that i have would probably be the flash only. as mentioned, learn how to bounce your flash and i think you are ok.

A good one to start with would be CANON 430EX or 430EXII :P With that you can bounced by tilting the Flash head ![]() That would remove your harsh shadow... Here is the 430 EX review: http://www.the-digital-picture.com/r...sh-review.aspx read more on Flash Photography at here: http://photonotes.org/articles/eos-flash/ Happy shooting

when you have it, experiment by pointing it in all sorts of direction and experience the effect that each has. slowly you will learn. ain't no pro here. so maybe the pros here can offer better advice. ![]() |

wedding photography for frens is always the most stressful thing. lol. you cant enjoy during the occasion and have to skip all the food just for the sake of photography. but at the end of the day... the couple will remember u when u captured the nice moments.
![]() nice series u have there... ![]() good first try... i also had my "first try" not long ago. lol. bounce flash would help to remove the unglam shadows u have in the pics. ![]() |

To make the contrast stand out, try the levels command in photoshop. To make the colors more vivid, use the image adjustment tools like selective color, color balance & saturation. Use saturation sparingly though, 'coz images will get noisier if used too much. |
