Default FZ50 firmware 1.09 self-update

Hi just stumble onto this firmware i'm currently upgrading the cam to this firmware which is suppose to produce cleaner pictures.
Will post if my firmware update result is successful.
for those that are keen this is the link where i d/l it.

The sample pics looks alittle cleaner not sure if this is a psychological effect i'm currently still testing but respond from resuming from power saving mode is definitely faster almost instantaneous nolonger need to wait abt 5 sec before u can take a pic.

May I know what is your default noise reduction setting u are using?

NR = low
The rest = Std

Thanks for the info..... Did you notice any loss in detail compared to the previous firmware?

not that i can notice on the image using the new firmware but i've only tested it wif jpegs as i do not have any raw image taken using the old firmware which i've which is ver 1.0

Very temping... is there any "side effect" ( I hope not) from the new firmware that you have notice?

i've been playing around wif the cam for the last few hours have not found any issues wif the new firmware yet though;
but i supposed if u were to update it would likely void whatever warranty for the cam

Is this update suitable for all regional FZ50?
I bought mine in Japan at 27 Aug 06.
I am not too sure about what version my firmware is.

Hi i'm not so sure as well but this self-update will void ur warranty; i updated my local set wifout any issue but i cannot confirm it will work for all region of FZ50.
U likely to have the same firmware as me ver 1.0 which i got locally in nov 2006

any effect that you can observe for the RAW shooting?
Is the RAW IQ affected also?
If not, maybe I will not try that..

cannot really compare as i've not taken any raw image using the old firmware to make a comparision
