my 50 cent bounce card, use it since i got my dslr, cos i refuse to pay ridiculous money on some plastics which seems to work quite well when my 50 cent bounce card works just as well if not better...

Actually I enjoyed the lightsphere, but the weight is just too heavy for AF-540FGZ

If you all wanna DIY, making a DIY lightscoop will be worth the trouble. I use it on the in-build flash when I use the Pentax P-TTL wireless.

The plan;
http://i173.photobucket.com/albums/w.../reflector.jpg

It also works well as a bounce flash. You can bounce a 10-12 feet ceiling at ISO200 f2.8-f4.5 1/125s. With ISO400 you can go up to f8 1/125s.

Edit: IMHO, the whaletail is ok, but not as gd as the lightsphere.

This one I do use for some outings or studio shots. The concept comes from lightscoop. It bounced the light from the inbuild flash to the ceiling. If you use P-TTL wireless with inbuild, you may notice the extra harsh front light, this will help a lot.

If u want to spend extras, you can buy a lightscoop;

But it doesn't do vertical shots like this DIY.

I was trying to imitate longko's design previously, then I got lazy and decided that just hand holding a $2 mirror from Daiso in front of the built-in flash is good enough for me. I tested the idea, and it works fine, and hand holding means it works in portrait mode too! But have to shoot with one hand only. Not really ideal if shooting more than just a few shots. But now I always have my mirror in my camera bag if there's a chance I'm shooting something indoors.

For external flash can try this: http://www.abetterbouncecard.com/. Simple to DIY, and good enough for events too (how bad can just a big white card look?).

LongKo Design is interesting ...abetterboundcard, website provides very good hindsight and practicality on bound flash..

G.F. whaletail...I am still wondering what is the logic that behind this design for practical used.. When I enquire OP abt the WT.. the guy asked if what I was asking for Toliet Sit in chinese "Horse container" lookalike type .. I said yes it is 70 buck ...but they don't have the studio version.

Is WT really that good ??? I have not been able to find substantial supporting practical usage of it..I wish those who own it can explain to me or compare to abetterboundcard.

and whish is better.

personally if u ask mi, the WT works, same for lightshere, flip-it etc etc etc...they all works and the work well...but they are also overprice...

have u tried abetterboundcard ? if yes is the result u happy with? if yes then its probably is good enough... spend the 70 bucks on something else then

i personally have use the abetterboundcard and im happy with it, i swear by it and im happy it cost only 50 cents...

Having WT, LS, white & black foams (ABBC), DIY diffuser, I'll say the LS is the best, but it stressed ur flash head a lot due to it's weight. Yet to try flip-it, but result should be very similar to LS as they bends the light almost the same way.

That link is also imitation. Anyway, here's the seller where I got mine together with flash holder and umbrella.

This is same as flip-it. IIRC quite a few amature fashion photographers in Malaysia use this. If you wanna get similar 3D effect, use a transparent PP sheet infront of ABBC like how it looks in that diffuser

Hi Longko,

You own the WT? reporter or Studio version, Ori or third party?
The L-Sphere is good I have it, but cannot use in places where there are glass panel, heavy refection.

OEM WT Reporter. LS if u wanna reduce the reflection remove the cap. I only use the cap when there's no ceiling to bounce. The reflection will be similar for WT, except it's thinner but longer.
