Wanna take a look at its macro capabilities without any addon filters or closeup lenses.

I would also like to know if it is possible to mount a 250D directly onto the Sony F717?

What's the thread size?

I used to own one. A very good cam except for the following :
- high noise level at ISO 100 and above.
- built in macro can only focus with the wide angle range of the lens
- can't control White Balance when using flash. Shots taken with Flash are a bit on the warm.

Hi all,
I'm still playing around with the manual modes of this camera; only got it a few days back. junyang, here are 2 shots I just did.

The left picture was taken when there was an especially bright commercial. TV was behind me.

I can't seem to be able to reach the stated 19cm macro focus distance at full zoom. Any ideas?

Regards,
Alvin

Specs from dpreview.com, revealed that....

Normal focus range 50 cm (19.7 in) - Infinity
Macro focus range 2 cm (0.8 in) - 50 cm (19.7 in)

So at full zoom, the min. macro range is 50cm?

Looks like the macro capabilities aren't that good... Probably need a closeup lens such as 250D..

I think i'm going to get this camera via instalment. Any recommendations? I'm still a student so i can't really pay it by myself..

Can just use a normal +4 close up filter which cost around $15.
If I not wrong, harvey norman now is selling all digicams with 3 years warranty up a certain date in july. And if you mean macro capabilites, you can go up to as close as 2cm to the subject (at wide angle) which most other digicams can't.

Just checked the manual... evidently, it is 90cm, not 19cm! Must have some sort juggling act in my brain
