Hi Guys,
Did anyone tried using the EDWORKS CR-V3 battery charger? Many months back I bought 2 pcs of this charger that bundle with rechargeable CR-V3 batteries. Packing does not mention if it is lithium. Instead of using the disposable type, I thought having rechargeable will save in a long run. Last week I decided to use them with my *istD and my shutter became funny. After the shutter fires, the mirror (I think since the view finder is blocked) suddenly went up and stayed for a few seconds before releasing. Thinking it was due to camera setting but found nothing been changed since last used. At first I thought it was the sudden change in temperature like taking it out to the open after keeping it in an a/c room. After temperature stablized, the problem still persisted. Tried power OFF n ON, 1st shot was normal but subsequent shots faced same problem with mirror locked and released. However, pictures taken were okay and during mirror locked, no images recorded. After came back to SG, I replaced the batteries with Lithium AA size & CR-V3, took a few shots each and so far camera shutter back to normal. I was really puzzled by this strange encounter. Perhaps it was due to the voltage rating of the rechargeable CR-V3 but found it reads 3.2V which is normal. |

Most rechargeable CRV3 batteries have higher voltage than 3, some might reach as high as 3.7 or even 4v. Better use a good (and accurate) multimeter to measure its voltage right after freshly charged and see how. If the voltage is too high, it might damage the camera.

June is busy month for me and too much business trips, just came back yesterday and Monday leaving for Hanoi & HCM for a week. About the rechargeable CRV3, I measured the voltage again and it is 3.2V compare to the disposable Energizer CRV3 which voltage is 3.4V. I inserted the disposable CRV3 again to my cam hoping the shutter problem was due to operating temperature, but found the same problem occured. With the Energizer CRV3, shutter no problem. Decided to junk the disposable CRV3 which cost me 90 bucks. |
