Hi
Anyone can advice me on where/which shop is best to get olympus or at least 4/3 accessories such as extender eyecups, battery pack for olympus flash heads, etc, other than olympus service centre. Last week, i went to those common shops like MS color, Cathay...they don't even have the basic eyepiece rubber as mine had dorpped off couple weeks earlier at shoot! Anyone advice?!! Thanx. |

Many stores (around the world) don't carry every accessory (not even B&H in New York), so odds are you will have to order what you want.
Some Olympus divisions have their own store which you can buy whatever you need (again assuming they have it in stock). p.s. It's always best to mention what part of the world you're from when you post such a request as the internet is international and your location info is blank. |

Hi Jon,
It's difficult to get Olympus accessories locally. Very difficult. One way is to send an email to Olympus for location of their stock. I did this with the twin flash. However for little things like rubber eyecups I can't say if they'll bother. The other way is to go to the service center with specific model and part numbers. They can place the orders for you at RRP, it'll take about a week. Personally. I stock up on stuff like eyecups when I am in Tokyo. If you can't get one from Olympus. Let me know. I can spare you one. (I am not sure what model you have. The 520 and E3 eyecups look similar.) |

I got the larger eyecup from Alan Photo (Sim Lim)
Still got the stock eyecup that I've never used as a backup. Have you tried eBay???

Actually I have a home made eyecup combining an ME-1 with an Orion telescope eyecup so that NO light can enter between my eye and the viewfinder, and since it's cushioned I minimize the risk of bumping my eye on the camera:
![]() I originally used the Orion eyecup on my C-700, it's not so great on square eyecups, works best with the ME-1 and E-1 round eyecups. I've always used third party eyecups on my SLRs, the manufacturer eyecups are usually mediocre. |

Hi
Appreciate for all replies. I did finally managed to buy a eyepiece(rather the rubber attachment) at olympus HQ today, ironically is their last piece of the week as what i was told by the staffs. As for things like the bty pack for FL50s flash will still need to wait as i was told by staffs from cathay, alanphoto...weeks or month likely.... Not that am complaining that much, Im a definite fan for my e3 n 510, much greater quality pics i can get than when i use canon then, juz that am quite uncomfortable still or rather disappoint on the "support" aspects for olympus users, especially full time photographers like us here, can really be a pain in the *** when being told the accessories u need is "not known when the stock will come again"..... Guess will have to start stocking up like one of the replier! Smart!!! |
