Dun hesitate lah, this lens is kinda rare now. Someone even said, it's the best zoom pentax ever made (in this level of cause, otherwise FA* and DA* are better
). |

Had the lens for a short while, a very nice little lens. The lens produces some great colors, very pleasing to the eyes. Here are some photos I took w/ it and Ds camera (no filter added, all taken in JPG w/ minimum PPing):

I thought long and hard comparing the DA21 f/3.2, FA20 f/2.8 and the FA20-35 f/4 before I decided to get this lens. The FA20 is so rare and costs a lot of money if you can find one. At f/3.2 the DA21 isn't exactly a fast lens. It is pretty sharp but it can suffer from the odd BF issues with the K10D.
As to the FA20-35, this lens is a keeper imo. The colours are so punchy straight out of the camera. Sharpness is good, aberration is well controlled and although the zoom range is short, it is pretty versatile compared to a prime. The constant f/stop zoom is good for flash set-ups and focusing is fast. It is compact and doesn't extend when zoomed, unlike the DA16-45mm. It was one of the last FA lenses to be introduced - late 1998. Even though there are DA lenses that can go wider, I'll keep this one for the fantastic colour rendition.

I think that's quite reasonable considering it has gone much higher on eBay. Not easy to make a good wide angle zoom. This lens has an aspherical front element. With an image circle that covers FF, plus got aperture ring, can definitely use on film cameras too.

I am wondering whether this lens can compare with Canon 17-40/f4L.
As a proud Pentax K1000 user, I hate current Pentax marketing strategy. It looks like all the Pentax lenses are limited except the three limited edition and three new DA limited. Only these six lenses are not limited. |

I owned the 20-35mm f4 and have tried the 16-45mm f4 as well. Between the 2, the 16-45mm is the better lens. Focussing is definitely much faster and quieter.
