Default Crumpler 5/6/7 Million Home

Hi every1. I'm planning on buying a Crumpler 7million Home bag.
I may sound like I have tons of equip but I don... I'm planning to buy the 7million becoz I wan a bag that I can carry my camera, + mayb 2 lens + flash, and my daily stuffs and even work and study stuffs.

I started of looking at the western lawn + bucket, but found out tat its cheaper to get the 7million instead.

Like to ask pple who own the 5/6/7 million, if the inside of the bag can be adjusted to put a camera+lens and mayb a file/folder? And does putting books and files inside together with the camera might "hurt" the camera?

Thnx Thnx

no.

you basically cannot put files in a 7 million easily:

http://www.cambags.com/Misc/shoulder...10d_frames.htm

You need something like a brazillion dollar home - although actually i would recommend a backpack instead.

It is possible to put A4 sized files and papers inside the bag. It needs some rearranging of the inserts. Of course when u rearrange the inserts, there is less space for the camera. Probably a mid sized body with kit lens and one or two primes.

Don't think the 7M Home can put files, I'll recommend you to get either the 5M or 7M.
Cause of the size & the pricing. (Crumpler having 10% for DBS Live Fresh Card Holders now)

I'm using the 7M Home, think its pretty good & comfy carrying it when I'm outdoor shooting. But sometimes my shoulder might ache after shooting long hours. But I never regret getting it because I'll sweat much more if I'm carrying a Backpack to shoot under the sun for hours.

You can put files by dividing the interior with the two large dividers, but it's not recommended as it uses up a third of the total number of dividers, leaving you with less to compartmentalise the rest of your bag. You are also left with a lot less space for your camera stuff.

Also, the rear surface of the bag curves inwards slightly near the bottom corners, hence it may cause your books/files to become dog-eared after awhile.

On the whole I wouldn't recommend using this bag for both the camera and study stuff. A backpack would be better.

5m home too small, I have a 6m home after putting in canon 40D with tamron 17-50 + 550-250mm + flash not much space left. probably can fit in a blower + diffuser cap only.

Get a 7m home, you will not believe how fast your arsenal is building up. my 2cents, YMMV.

You're not maximising the space you have to work with.

My 6 Million Dollar Home can fit a 1D Mark II, 24-70 f/2.8, 580EX, 70-200 f/2.8, extra batteries for the flash, one extra battery for the 1D (which is a brick and takes up a lot of space), extra cards in a memory card wallet.

Also in there is my iPod and UM1 in-ear monitors (high-end earphones).

Batteries, filters etc.. can fit into front pockets.

What I'm trying to say is my 6m home after putting in a body with a standard zoom you can only have 2 slots left for either 2 lenses or 1 lens + 1 flash. unless you want to squeeze other stuff into the same compartment with the body + lens mounted.

For my case, I still can put a blower + diffuser cap into the camera compartment.
Can't really fit in another lense

Alamak you are everywhere!

Haha. For every bag I believe there is a conservative way of packing it, and there is an extreme way of packing it, such that you can fit the maximum amount of gear into the smallest space. I used to think the 6m Home was a small bag, but now I think of it as a deceptively small bag that can hold an amazing amount of gear.

The situation I gave you, I've only done it once. Super uncomfortable on the shoulders. Let me describe how it's done.

The dividers are set up this way: the two big ones stay in place. Remove all the small dividers. This sets you up with three big sections.

The small dividers come in two kinds - the kind that attaches on one side and the kind that has velcro on both ends. Take the kind that has velcro on both ends and divide one of the side sections.

The center section is then divided into half with the other two-sided divider. In one of these halves, the camera, with lens attached, slots in, lens first. The body is cradled by the two big dividers.

In the other half of the center section is where the my batteries, extra memory cards and such go in (as my 1D battery, I say again, is a huge brick ). These items are essentially next to the 24-70 that's on the camera, separated by a divider. This space is what a lot of people fail to utilise when packing their camera bags.

With the three remaining compartments, the 70-200 (into the undivided section, 'cause it's got more room), 580EX, and even a water bottle, can all fit into the bag.

Hard to visualise now, I will go back and follow your instruction to configure the compartment.

By the way, I find that the shoulder strap keep slipping off the shoulder, no good.

Yes, agree on that. No remedy for the slipping though...unless you apply something gooey to the bottom of the shoulder pad.

I'll try and get some pics done when I get back. Hopefully it makes things clearer.

Ok, photos.

This is all the stuff I'm gonna attempt to fit into the Six Million Dollar Home

From left, EOS 1DII w/ 24-70 f/2.8L & hood, 580EX, Sigma 100-300 f/4 (to simulate a 70-200 f/2.8, that I already returned)...continued...

a NP-E3 battery (for the 1D, it's a brick, right?), and a memory card wallet.

As I said, from the default divider configuration, remove all the small dividers, leaving only the two main ones to split the compartment into three sections:

Using two of the smaller dividers that have velcro on both ends, divide the bag as such:

Now you can begin packing. The largest section on the right is a no-brainer - the 70-200 f/2.8 with its hood goes in there.

Moving to the left, to pack the flash with its diffuser in, fold the flash by its joint:

It then goes in head first, body facing the rear of the bag. This is purely personal preference, as it can face the other way round too:

If you are packing a diffuser, such as the Sto-Fen omni bounce, you can slot it into the gap between the flash's body and the small divider. Note that there is one more empty slot in front of where the flash is? That can be used to house a small water bottle or a small prime. However, it's really best left empty if you're gonna squeeze so much gear in. (I never ever actually pack this bag so full. I have bigger bags for the task, but if you only have one bag, then just know that this set up is highly possible.)

Now, on to the middle section.

Middle section front slot is where the battery and memory card wallet squeeze into:

The camera, with lens and hood reversed, goes lens-first into the other slot of the middle section. The packed bag looks something like this and weighs a ton:
