You could get the basic kit below $1000/-.
Check out the outlets mentioned below: http://http://www.clubsnap.com/forum...d.php?t=292045 By the way, congrats ![]() |

The link should be:
http://www.clubsnap.com/forums/showthread.php?t=292045 The kit lens (with VR): http://www.nikon.com.sg/productitem....215-733397d823 or this (w/out VR) http://www.nikon.com.sg/productitem....975-d8a73f6828 VR or non-VR ... I'm not sure. Check the shops in that link and compare to Courts. |

another cheaper option is to get the D40/40x from buy/sell here. the specs are roughly similar.
congrats, and have fun shooting.

For capturing of baby, VR of the D60 kit lens 18-55mm should come into good use for indoor shots.
55-200mm VR may not be applicable at the moment. Perhaps can consider getting D60 kit + a handy flash like SB400(<$200). Could achieve nice indoor shots with the flash bounced to the ceiling. |

Congrats!
For newborns, it's better not to use direct flash on them. I'd suggest getting a 50mm F/1.8 or 35mm F/2 to capture the moments. |

Congratulations !
There are lots of good suggestions on what setup you can try. No worries if you somehow cannot find a particular lens to take pictures, all your shots will become beautiful memories for you and your family ![]() Ryan |

Congrats to you and your family!
![]() I personally prefer the colours, price and sharpness of the 50mm f1.8 but don't like the perspective compared to 35mm f2. But since the advantages for the 2 lens is 3 vs 1, i sold my 35mm f2 for a zoom lens instead.

1) Infant when come out.. will sleep everyday!! Not until up to 1 month.. will they be too fast for ur kit lens 2) No direct flash or bounce flash for infant less then 6 months old. cos their eyes not fully developed yet.. so flash is out of the question. Note also that there are warnings on the flash manual not to use flash for infant 3) VR helps in low light but does not help in stopping motion 4) Ur kit lens will last you up to ur baby's 3rd month.. where he.she will start to become active 5) 50mm f.18 will not autofocus on the D60.. but its not an issue... just to highlight this pt 6) U will be shooting most of the time at ISO value higher than 800.. and only able to shoot in the daytime.. Would also suggest u look at third party lens.. example the Tamron 17-50mm f2.8 which comes with in-build motor (new version)

I agree.. you guys can do an experiment.. try bounce flash and you try to look at the ceiling or the wall u trying to bounce and see if it hurts ur eyes... seriously.. it does!

by theory, the sigma 30mm f1.4 HSM should be faster in freezing motion than the tammy 17-50mm f2.8 read up about the new tammy version being slower than the non-motor version over in the tammy/sigma sub forum as it tends to fine tune for focus. seen a few baby shots quite nice over at the sigma/tarmon sub forum under the sigma 30mm f1.4 user thread. http://www.clubsnap.com/forums/showt...=362928&page=5 Last edited by Simon_84; 9th June 2008 at 10:23 AM. |
