I have the FL50... no problems with it... BUT
The R comes with a stand and a diffuser, i don't know whether its the camera or the diffuser... but there was an occasion taking group picture during a wedding that my friend used his E3, 14-54, FL50R+original diffuser. and i was using a E510, 14-54, FL50 with "a better bounce card". Mine clearly had reflection off the forehead of the people in front... we're taking the picture from the same location, height and blahblahblah... somehow its better in terms of diffusing... So please get the R... well worth the extra $.

I'd love to get the FL50R too... But I already have the FL-50
Offshoe flash opens up another shooting perspective. Go for FL50! In case u don't mind a 2nd hand FL-50, U can tempt me with an offer... ![]() |

if you intend to upgrade E-4/5 later....go for FL50R.
Obviously the "R" version offers more than the FL50..... |

![]() I was given the impression that it's better to get FL50 to cover event shooting. (which I agree actually....after using it for sometime) Also read that FL36 cycle time is slow due to its 2-batteries instead of 4-batteries in FL50. Is it true? |
