Nice lens. High resolution, low distorsion and still smooth enough typical of Zeiss. Very comfortable to use at f2.8 too.

Nice lens.
Had one that was 6bit coded but sold it. Still have an extra mounting flange milled with recesses for 6bit coding available. This flange was ordered from Germany, flew to USA to get it milled & back to Singapore! ![]() |

I have an unsafe feeling mounting a silver lens on my camera. Feels like it would rip off the mounting ring if there's impact of some kind. Doesn't the weight put too much strain on the mount?

I think it's perfectly safe. Leica lenses originally all brass-chrome, black painted. Anodised aluminium is newer material-easier to work on & manufacture; maybe also cheaper to manufacture. They are slowly discontinueing chrome lenses. Only chrome lenses currently in production are the 50mm. They have discontinued chrome 21asph, 24asph, 35asph(most recently). Only chrome lenses left are cron50, Lux50asph. Elmar50(both chrome & black) discontinued. Chrome Elm90macro not sure if discontinued.
