Hi,
I have just bought a E510 and was going to print some pics at local FujiFilm. Was informed that the pics would be cropped using the standard prints unless chose 'the Jumbo' print. Previously Canon DSLR can directly fit into the standard print, is there such issues with Olympus? or my setting is wrong? Thanks for the advises |

Hi there..
Olympus print ratio will be in 4:3 as compared to most brands which is 3:2. So, you will never fit nicely into a 4R (6:4) print. You can either print in Jumbo 4R or alternatively, you tell the printing shop that you want it to fit without cropping hence you will either see borders on left/right (landscape) or top/bottom (portrait). The borders will be about 5mm on either side. Or you can ask them to print with borders on all side but your photos will look small. (but unequal border margins) Or you can crop using Photoshop to 3:2 ratio. Or you can ask them to crop for you (not advisable, coz they will use their own judgement when cropping). Hope this help. And congrats to your purchase....! Cheerz!! ![]() Last edited by SleepingIdol; 4th June 2008 at 03:56 PM. |

Hi all,
thanks for ur prompt response. Think will go for Jumbo print to avoid any crops. but the Jumbo does look like some stretching on the pics. By the way, how is the service using snapfish for normal pics? understand they are charging 0.19/pc and are there any other charges slap on top? |

If you want to print Jumbo, the issue is finding wide range of Albums to fit the jumbo size.
But if your print is just for personal, then I guess its just fine. ![]() |

Of course if you choose a print size that is a 4:3 ratio like 8x6 then there's no cropping done. It's not just Olympus that has this issue, any P&S or bridge camera that has a 4:3 ratio sensor also has this issue.
As well if you choose a 4:3 ratio print when printing a 3:2 image it too will be cropped. Not to mention if you choose any other ratio print, like if you a choose square format (1:1) it too will be cropped. Film prints have been cropped forever without telling you...it's just something we had to put up with for printing certain sizes...at least with digital we can crop in advance and resave the image in the specific print ratio; some of the better print machines will allow you to position the crop, or resize to fit. |
