I heard from a friend stating that some models of the canon has some issues with the shutter mechanism after 40K-50K shutter counts. The issue being that the mechanism cannot be replaced or the shutter count cannot be reset. Is there a similar problem with Pentax DSLR?
Having a hard time deciding between D80 & K200D ![]() |

You could ask shiriro if the shutter can be replaced..
Having said that though, I'm not sure if either the D80 or the K200D have manufacturer quoted "shutter life" figures. Note that the D80 is coming out, and that if I had to pick between the K10D and the K200D at a similar price, I would want the K10D (I'm not sure if the prices are similar). |

IMO, dont worry too much about such problems. just get the camera you like and enjoy shooting. i believe most hobbyists will not hit 50k clicks (ok this is my assumption
). As for your questions, i guess you have to wait for the gurus to give you an answer. ![]()

It's not just about the body, but also the system that you are going into... This brand is starting to see a little bit more 3rd party manufacturers (Lens-wise) chipping in more choices for lens selection.
But Pentax? The primes are really "mouth-watering" experience...

D80 as in Nikon? IMHO both are capable bodies. Think you should think about what photography you are interested in. I tend to tell ppl, if you need do event, indoor or low light photography go with N and C. Many tends to complain abt Pentax slower AF in low light and P-TTL in flash. The good points about Pentax, a lot of bro or sis can filled u in ![]()

From what I asked them during the last IT fair...they told me they most likely won't be bringing k2000D in as there is K1000D and K10D. Not sure are they still hanging on to this now.

i am pretty sure you can replace the shutter though. all dslrs have this issue, as long as you have mechanical parts they will wear out. my k100d is 17K shutter count and still going strong. and frankly it will last you quite a bit, i shoot quite a lot and itś been maybe 1 year 6 months, to give you any idea how long this will last you |
