been checking a few shop here and there for this great nikon camera,, so far like one of the ts above i manage to zero in a few shops with competitive prices, but one particular shop offered me a yummy price $2280 for the d300 body with a 4gig card,,, including the gst,,, when i ask about the warranty he said "1 yr" shop warranty,,, i know that nikon warranty is much better than what he is offering, are there user's here that have the same situation when they bought their piece,,, and do you think the price is worth it.
thanks in advance |

Gray set is fine if you buy lens, but for camera such as the D300 it is BEST to stick with local Nikon Warranty. I have 3 gray set lenses, all perfect the only difference is that I have to pay for the recalibration (Only once).

your are already planning to spend 2k+ for the body, why bang on saving 100+ or 200+ for a grey set and to live with uncertainty?

read somewhere that if u buy grey set from TCW, they'll send it back to nikon SG for service and not japan. but best to confirm with them first.

Since when do they send anything back to Japan? The D300 wasn't even from Japan to begin with.

Wow, my first post! Anyway, when D70 was out, my friend bought a grey set (1st batch) from TCW, broke down after a few months and he waited for another few more months before getting it back. Get a local set for DSLR if I were you.

I presume most will send to NSC sg. Too expensive to send overseas unless it's a big problem. The shop will pay for the repair if they provide the warrantee.

understand from NSC sg that warranty only applies when both receipt and warranty card are from same country.... otherwise, even if it is within the warranty period, NO warranty....

For car, engine problem? Change it la. For notebook computer, the biggest item either the motherboard or the processor, change it. D300 - sensor, shutter/mirror, AF system, circuit board/processor, Viewfinder, LCD, AF motor, etc just simply change whatever that is faulty. If got to wait a few months for the repair, it is Horseshit la. They are simply sitting on it. Indent part and despatch by courier takes at most a week and a few more days to fix. Normally, for a new cam, we expect them to have the full range of spare parts......
