Dear D60 users, i have some question regarding the rangefinder feature in this wonderful little camera. I wonder if anyone can advice.
I went thru some information on this feature. I have some old AIS (etc) Nikkor lenses that I am reluctant to let them off. I wonder if the rangefinder can help me to manually focus them on the D60. I know that some old lenses cannot meter on these newer cameras, so i will need to use manual mode. When I read abt the D60 in the Nikon website, i says "When manual focus mode is used and the rangefinder is set to on, the electronic analog exposure display switches to rangefinder display to show the deviation from the in-focus point (Not available in Manual exposure mode). So does it mean that if the lens cannot meter, i cannot use the rangefinder feature? Is it "better" to have both the split-screen in the viewfinder (IIRC) and the rangefinder feature in use, to get a gd manual focus? Pls enlighten a noob here. Thanks. ![]()

maybe is easier to ask your question in the d60 user thread.
the 50mm f1.8 is easier to MF on the d60 due to the rangefinder feature and is faster to MF than the d40 which relies on the small green dot. dont have to do a split screen as some d60 users over here didnt do that and they still can MF. you were selling the 50mm f1.8 MIJ lens right? i thought is better to keep it since is not often that a 50mm is MIJ especially when the newer ones are MIC. |

found the answer already. ![]() I was actually talking abt some really old lenses, not the 50 1.8. I am not int in that lens currently. It doesn't matter if the lens is MIJ or MIC, it's more of how u use it. Thread closed.
