Memory STick & Memory Stick Pro Dua, big difference?

Hi, seeking your advice or lecture...

I have an old (6yrs) sony videocam uses memory stick. I purchased a new momery stick pro duo with adapter. Thinking to use the new memory stick pro to copy some of my cassette contents.

BUt the videocam cannot detect the memory stick pro duo.

Any alternative?

The memory stick pro duo I think needs updated firmware for the camera... it's supposed to be faster, better read and write speeds...
