Default Any other alternative ext. power-pack for Sony flash?

Other than the FA-EB1AM (RRP $299), are there any other external batt packs around that's suitable for the 56AM flash? Thanks!

I have the Sony one and I believe no 3rd party version coz the connector looks Sony propriety.

Anyway I DIYed using 6V/4aH Sealed Lead Acid batt + wire + clip and cycling time is faster and last longer though a bit heavier.

Anyway about the Sony ext Battery pack you require 4xAA in Flash + 6xAA in battery pack. I bring it along empty just as backup...AA batts can be easily found at any Provision shop.

But I was never in such situation yet where I'll need to do a few thousand shots at any one time - either my camera batt or memory card will run out first b4 my DIY batt pack.

Thanks for your input. Guess I'll need one because I do find myself in situations where fast recycling time is important. My 56AM flash manages to fire about 3 times before stopping to charge up, which is not good enough. Have missed quite a few key shots because of this.

Heh. Thanks. Very creative indeed. But I don't think it's very practical (nor would it give a good impression) if I should have to use it for a wedding shoot.

bro, why would u think it is not pratical for wedding shoot leh? According to bro trigger happy, a single charge can last thousand shoot and if u fit the bottle into a lens case, i am sure it will look more presentable/pro.

for the CL 5 cable, it looks like external cable, does it means that we still have to put in 4 x AA in the flash and use the turbo 2x2 to push the recycle rate?

Dear CSers,

I've a friend who is using 3rd party battery pack from Germany. He has been using it for quite a while for indoor wedding shoots & it is pretty reliable. The size is very much like a walkie talkie size which can clip onto your jeans.

may e-mail him @ stanlim7831@yahoo.com.sg if you are keen to get it.

Cheers,

Erm. Okay. Thanks for all the suggestions. But seeing that June is a busy period for weddings, and I've learnt (through the hard way) that the batt pack is really a need, not a want, so I ended up getting the Sony one for $285 from MS Color.

Dear fellow CSers,

You may visit http://www.qtm.com/QuantumBatteries/...t=yes&res=1024 to see the external power-pack available for your flash gun.
