Ups for this old thread again...

Anyone with experience with the new Gorillapod Focus?
    http://www.joby.com/products/gorillapod/focus/

on paper the Gorillapod SLR-Zoom would meet my needs as it supports up to 3kg, but i'm thinking maybe the Focus which supports up to 5kg would be a sturdier choice. thinking of using it for travelling. there are times when you really dread lugging a tripod around...

of course based on the fact that the Focus is listed 90USD more, i think i'll still go for the SLR-Zoom. but really curious to know from anyone who has used both if there are any real difference, or would the SLR-Zoom suffice in most situations?

Thanks for the post on the Focus model. Looks fierce.

I use the zoom model for odd angles, otherwise a small table tripod is better. On my Canon 40D+17-85, the zoom does not give 100% confidence. FYI, the ball joints can be pop off if sufficient pressure is applied.

doesn't sound good man. i'm worried the joints may lose the 'tightness' over time...
