I'm planning on getting the A350 in a few weeks' time... and will be looking for a wide angle zoom lens for it... any recommendations?
I currently own a Sigma 17-35mm f2.8-4 EX which will work out to about 25mm on the wide angle part. I'd like to have something in the range of 17mm on the wide part. Also, I have other Sigma lenses, like the 24-70 f2.8 EX and the 70-200mm f2.8 EX. These lenses should work with the A350 without the need to 're-chip' the lens, correct? |

Your older lenses should work fine. Best to test of course.
![]() As for the wide-angle, there is also the 10-20, the 11-18, etc etc... Many choices available actually.

As for the 17-35mm Sigma, I used to own the lens, it did not work well with my 7D. Basically the aperture lever kept getting past the engagement lever on the body and as a result the lens got stuck on my body, the tech at KM had to force the lens off the body. Bad experience but probably a lemon... Focus was not too accurate also I felt. |

Yeah. I got the lens way before the KM era. These were purchased around 2001-2002. Really hope that these lenses will work fine with the A350.
What I am looking for are wide and large aperture lenses. Seems like only Tokina has a large aperture wide angle zoom with the AT-X 116 PRO DX while Tamron has the 11-18mm f4.5-5.6 and Sigma has the 10-20mm f4.5-5.6. However, I'm not sure if the Tokina lens comes in Sony mount. Sony's own wide angle zoom is a 11-18mm f4.5-5.6 as well. And the this is, it costs more than the A350 body! At this price, I'd rather pay for the Tokina lens! |

Also look at the sigma 12-24, or the Sigma 14mm f/2.8

Yeah, do consider the Sigma although I think it might cost more than your A350 body as well...

I only have 4 lenses now... enough liaoz... now I waiting for the A900... then upgrade all my lenses to quality ones... 24-70 SSM, 70-300SSM G, like that covers everything I need liaoz for travel photography... maybe throw in a 85mm f/1.4 or a 17-35mm G if I can still find it... if cannot then the Sigma 12-24mm might be a good alternative
I like ultrawide angle lenses... I find that a few lenses is really good enough... |

may be can consider 16mm Fish eye lens from minolta or others, though they are not zoom lens and with some curvature distortions.
