Leica m8 best suitable lens for portraits? It has crop factor of 1.33. Is the 75mm good enough for a head shot? what you guys think? which of the most common lens you guys used? anyone goes with the flash before? Any photo to share?

With 1.33 CF, 75mm would be great for taking just the head shot.

75mm is hardest to use, but needs practice for framing in the VF. I find the 90 much easier. Of course, check out the closest focusing distance also.

I highly recommend the 1.25x VF magnifier for longer focal lengths.

with thin dof, it is often a lot of hit and miss... but you can get around that by shooting a sequence with small adjustments to your focusing distance.
working distance with the 50 is a little too short, unless you want to include a fair bit of the surrounding. the 75 and 90 would be better in these aspects. however, the VF is not the best for 70 or 90. as hacker suggested, use the 1.25 VF mag. |

Lux75 focuses to 0.75m & Cron75 to 0.7m
Portrait on M8 50-75mm-probably the older lenses not Apo or Asph. |

What the different between using a leica and a non-leica lens? Anything different with the frameline? I using the nokton 35mm f1.2, can't gauge using the frameline. The pic came out from the lcd was different when viewed from the viewfinder.

Well, I am happy with a 50mm and go up close for blurry backgrounds.
