I use a TZ3, pretty much the same image quality as almost any Lumix out there... The wide 16:9 coupled with 28mm is great for a different perspective, especially for street shooting. Image stab is well executed... Noise reduction screws up almost any shots not taken at ISO100, though...

Mercuro: You can check out some of the shots my wife takes in my flickr...

It ain't bad... Just don't compare it to an SLR or something that it is not... For a travel P&S it's a very nice cam to tote around, but battery life sucks, I bought a couple of 3rd battery batteries from eBay for less than S$10 shipped, [url=http://cgi.ebay.com/CGA-S007-Battery-for-Panasonic-Lumix-DMC-TZ3-TZ2-TZ1_W0QQitemZ150251728436QQihZ005QQcategoryZ43447Q QssPageNameZWDVWQQrdZ1QQcmdZViewItemsuch as these[/url] (search for it from eBay HK), made my life easier. My brother-in-law uses a Fuji F30 and he went through 4 days of daily shooting (50pics or so) without a single charge, while I had to change batteries twice in one day in the zoo.

In my experience, using the Ai mode produces the best results.

Thanks everyone. The picture is great for a compact! For clarity and color. However, if the battery is drainy, it is not good :-( I thou' the review was saying about 300 shots

I'm looking for a compact that is wide and can shoot at least 3 frames per sec. Of course the picture clarity and color must be there!

The LCD drains power fast... Couple with flash... But if you can get the batts from the link I posted above, it's worth carrying a couple since each battery is just about an inch wide and slightly over an inch thick. Not that big of a deal carrying 2-3 batts for a long trip. I got my battery for USD$6 each exactly including shipping from HK to SIN. Got it in 4 days.

The continous shooting is fine, I use it all the time as the 2nd shot usually is more stable (esp when zoomed).

Oh just to add, Sing sells this cam for almost S$600, I got mine from Amazon for S$380 incusive of a 4GB SDHC... BIG price difference. I had mine carried by a friend that was in the US, if you use vpost, I think you can get it (inclusive of tax, if any, and shipping for less than S$400, still A LOT cheaper than getting it retail here.

Here's the Amazon link for the Panasonic TZ3. HTH again.

Thanks! I just order tz4 from 6th ave for USD216. It is cheaper than tz3 :-( thou' a bit slower in continuous shoot, 2.5 fps compare to 3fps for tz3, howeeer for low res, tz4 can go >4fps. Good for shooting F1 ;-)

just got my hand on tz4. Very good comapct camera! Superb picture with good light but noisy at iso800 & above and low light. But that is expected for compact!

Also like the 3 frame shoot in 1.2 secs at full resolution! good for action!

Best of all the video recording from the cam has good viewable quality (than VCD). Best it fit to 16:9 without everyone looking fat;-).
