Does it work?

Thanks

Manual lens to 4/3 adapters work well on 4/3 cameras.

But you should post this in the right section, the 4/3 section. That is where Oly dSLR is discussed. Ask admins to move this.

They work. You don't need to get them fr ebay. Try Orient Photo at SLS.

Just have to remember they focus "beyond infinity"

Just have to be more careful during focusing. especially when we don't have a split screen.

Note that some cheaper OM adapters from eBay DON'T work properly...I don't know how many times I've heard from people who bought one that doesn't engage the aperture mechanism, instead they have to press the DOF preview button on the lens to close down the aperture; actually I was recently at a gathering where someone had bought one of those, and they couldn't believe mine actually works the way it should...but then again mine is the $150 one from Olympus they were giving away to early adopters of the E-1 & E-300.

Are you sure that was an OM adapter? As I understand M42 can be tricky and not every lens can be stopped down by the adapter.

They have/can get quite a few of those adapters. Except for the Minolta MD-4/3 adapter. I got mine from eBay.

RJ (jinfinance) is pretty well known on a lot of forums for this great adaptors and stuff.. I just ordered my 3rd one from him... I'm not too sure how the MF-1 which Mikefellh got from olympus is any different from the one RJ is selling.. but its good to do some research on the functionality first. Plus the adaptors are usually cheaper online anyway. (Just fine a good seller.. coz some of them are made quite badly.) I have a bad habit of having my adaptors attached to my OM lenses permanently instead of swapping them from lens to lens. So far RJ's stuff is working pretty ok for me. (Hobbyist user here.. may not even be using them right to begin with hahaah...)

Definitely sure, because I've not only read about the issue in forums many times, but when I was at an Oly get-together I was discussing the OM adapter and one person in the group didn't believe me when I said the aperture pin engages because his OM adapter from eBay doesn't, and it was only after trying out my OM adapter and my 50mm f/1.8 (this was also a lens he owned) that he was shocked to find out that mine from Olympus actually DOES engage the adapter whereas with his OM adapter he has to press the DOF button.

So it definitely COULDN'T be an M42 adapter (which is a screw thread, not a bayonet thread anyway).

There is a definite quality difference between the Oly original MF-1 and the clones. The MF-1 is definitely much better made, but it is also quite a bit more expensive. I have one MF-1 and several Chinese, all working equally well but the difference is definitely there.

Got mine frm jinfinance as well. Works OK but not as good as the OM to 4/3 that I got fr Orient.

If u are getting the adapter fr JF, dun forget to get the remote as well. Well worth the price !

Orient is asking for $40, I think.

Enjoy your new purchase.
