Default Cost to service the E510?

Hi all, I have a Olympus E-510 and want to send it to Olympus to clean up some dust in the viewfinder. How much does it cost, since it's just out of warranty?

Last time I send my lens to service/cleaning .. S$120 + 7% gst = S$128.40
Body might have different charges.

If you only want to get the dust off the view finder, you can try using a blower to blow it away. If you don't know how to do it, you can come down on the next kopi/outing session.

Just curious, does anyone know if Olympus does sensor cleaning and shutter replacement for free if camera body still under warranty? Thanks.

You mean you shot over 50,000 frames within a year?!

By the way, why did you ask? Is you shutter damage or not accurate due to manufacturer's defects? If it is then you might get a shutter replacement for free, provided it is covered within the warranty terms and conditions.

Just getting worried as my shutter count has exceeded 30,000 in less than half a year. Think I have been taking too many unnecessary shots..

I tried with a blower too, but its still there, don't know know the dust gets in there. I'm wondering if the dust is inside the prism.

Don't mind tell us what happen to your viewfinder that need to be replaced. May be they only charge you the parts and not the service charge since it's under warranty.

haha... my viewfinder is dusty and try to clean it with blower but i accidentally remove the focus screen so I might as blow whatever inside, didnt realise that i actually make the viewfinder section worst. I try to put it back and causes more scratch , so i have to change the whole viewfinder... It actually doesnt affect any of the picture quality and result. I still insist to change it to a new viewfinder...

It's not a manufacturing defect if you wear out the camera within the warranty period.

in my experience with OSC so far, everytime i brought in my E510 for servicing, they always did free cleaning of the internals and vf. so maybe if you have something else to service, just send it in and they will likely just clean it up for you.

my E510 is nearing the end of its warranty, gonna send it in for a grip replace (mine is coming off) after my dad returns the camera to me. hope i still get the free cleaning

for repairs, you can read my accident here: http://www.clubsnap.com/forums/showthread.php?t=350031

total cost of repair: $165 (got free cleaning too!)
